Bass-Jons' fished the three rivers venue (Nottoway/Blackwater/Chowan) out of the Route 258 launch for their 9th event of the season.  Only 12 boats came out to fish, making this the lowest turnout so far this year.  Those that showed up faced oppressive heat and tough fishing that is typical of this river system in the summer.  The morning started out well for most anglers, with cooler temperatures and lots of fish being caught, but the bite shut down for most around 10 am, which is right around the time the heat came rolling in.  The lack of breeze didn't help matters.  A few anglers reported catching fish right before weigh-in in the afternoon as well.  Senkos, shakey heads, jigs, and frogs were the baits of choice for most.

Congratulations to Luther Showaker for pulling out his second win of the season with an 11 lb 4 oz bag that was anchored by a 5 lb 14 oz giant, which turned out to the be the big fish of the tournament.  Second place went to Dan Griffin and Chris Pride with 7 lbs 14 oz.  Third went to Roccoa Spurlin and Dave Evans 6 lbs 14 oz. 

There was only incremental movement in the Angler of the Year standings.  Rick Burton moved up into a tie with Moose Wells for the top spot for Angler of the Year, with Chaz Carrington dropping back to a distant third with his tough outing.  Luther Showaker moved up into a tie for fourth with Mike Peregrine on the strength of his first place finish.  The Co-Angler of the Year top spot is now occupied by Mike Howie, who leads Marion Martin by one point. 

The next event is at Burnt Mills on July 9th.  There are two off-weekends between the Nottoway and Burnt Mills due to the 4th of July holiday weekend.
