"The Backyard Brawl"
1st Place - Hanke & Keith with 20lbs 5oz. A couple of 5's a 4 and a two 3's can usually win it for you. Biggest fish went 5lbs 10oz - NICE!!!
Neal Robinson (Team Hawg Gitta) took 2nd Place weighing in 15lbs 1oz. This 5lb 12oz Mule and a 4+ could not quite overcome what the 1st Place team brought into the scales.
The 3rd Place (picture not shown) honors goes to James Williams and Nate Hollis with 13lbs 5oz. They also took Big Fish with 6lbs 6oz.
Bethel's 2nd Tournament for the year was held on June 5th and as usual, the bass on Bethel did not let the Anglers down. Nice weights
were brought in on this day. Something that, in the past couple of years, has been unusual for the summer months. Surprisingly, 11 boats showed up.
According to "Dock Talk," the primary bite for most anglers was first thing in the morning, which lasted up until about 1100 - after that, it was nip-and-tuck. The primary lures used to catch most of the fish were various topwater
presentations, soft jerkbaits & spinnerbaits. As the day got later, the bite came to a screeching halt. Multiple patterns were working here, but timing was the key ingredient. A few anglers were on the lower end road bed, while
others targeted the upper end grass. Later in the day, the upper end road bed produced for a couple of anglers. Only 2 or 3 limits had been recorded for this day and even with that, there wasn't much culling going on. Those who
brought in fish brought in some quality chunks. Nothing really small; very few under a pound or so.
One thing is for certain, in the past few years to the present, many of us have recognized the immense comeback that this lake has made. This
lake by far is not hurting like it once was.
It hasn't been posted on the Marquee there at Bethel Park, but usually their tournaments are on the 1st Saturday of the month. However, the next Saturday would be July 3rd of which many folks will be on vacation.
Unsure of how they will be planning to reschedule this, but it would be recommended. If any new information comes up, it will be posted on the Bass Jon's Message Board.
Just a reminder, the cost for the Tournament goes as follows: $25 Entry Fee, $5 Ramp Fee and a "Big Fish" Optional Pot for an additional $5; basically, $35. Also, for those that do not know, the Park takes out 30% of the Entry Fees
as well. So only $17.50 of your Entry Fees will be accounted for as the Pot. The "Big Fish" pot is 100% payout.

ATTN: Little Creek Angler's
I have yet to receive any tournament results from the Little Creek Angler's of Toana, VA. We would like to add these Boat Captain's to the Peninsula Poll Rankings, but are unable to do so at this time. Please
get in touch with Neal Robinson at (757) 870-5431. Many of the Little Creek Angler's that have fished with the Boot'Legg Trail have shown interest in the Poll Rankings and would like to know where they would stand
against their peers along the Peninsula. We need those numbers in order to tally them up.

Now that several Angler's have been added to the Best 5, the points will be harder to gain. A point here and there will be
all that separates an angler. Some angler's had a few bad tournaments and can turn around their points by scoring well. That
means entering tournaments with a larger number of boats and placing well within their respective tournaments. Every fish counts,
so it is a must that anglers weigh their fish in.
For those anglers well in the Top of the Poll Rankings (Top 10), mere points seperate you from your peers. Anglers such as Stan Stockton, James
Williams, Rex Shell, Jerry Patterson, Orece Robinson; all can leap up several places by having a good finish and replacing one of their other Top 5
finish points with a better finish.
Also, those just out of the Top 10 - Shaun Peregoy, Jesse Munden, Mike Cooper, Roger Ewing & Jay North - are within 11 points or less of
being in the Top 10. For right now, anglers who have at least 5 tournament finishes, your points will not go down; however, it will take
some strong finishes (amount of boats in tournaments are critical - the more the better your points) in order to gain any points from
here on out.
Currently, Gerald Gentry sets atop the overall (Best 5) Poll Standings and has only been unseated once this season by Orece Robinson. However, that
was short lived. Presently, Orece Robinson holds the Overall Points (1,574) with 9 tournaments under his belt, as well as scoring the largest total
weight at 71lbs 4oz.
As it stands in the Top 10, it looks like those anglers fishing with Bass Jon's have more Anglers in the Top 10; as well as the Top 20. There are
15 anglers in the Top 20 that belong to the Bass Jon's group; whereas there are only 5 outside of that. Rule 9 has 1 angler in the Top 20; Russ Hall.
This has been interesting so far this year, but I hope to get more Clubs/Trails involved next year. It will be tasking, but I am willing to continue with
the number crunching, so long as I continue to be provided with the Tournament Results. A change that I will be making next year, due to the way I have to
score Bass Jon's, I will be adding the scores of the Co-Angler's as well; not just the points for the Boat Captain's. The reason is, some anglers fish
separate from their Boat Captain and become Boat Captain's themselves, but don't get credit for fishing separately. Examples of those anglers would be Jerry Hogge,
Sam North and Mike Schneider. There are more out there, but these anglers did not get credited for tournaments that they had fished as a Co-Angler, but I score
the Co-Anglers for Bass Jons. These Poll Rankings are catered towards the Boat Captain's, but with Bass Jon's, the Boat Captain's change depending on the draw. For
next year, as long as an angler is able to be identifiy (Captain or Co-Angler), they will be scored.
Also, if an Angler would like to be scored for other tournaments fished in the area, let us know the Point-of-Contact (P.O.C.) of the Tournament so that we may verify
the Place of Finish, total weight and number of boats. For example, tournaments have started at Bethel Lake, yet they haven't been scored. We are having problems
getting the score cards in hand in order for us to achieve this. All suggestions or ideas will be looked into; if emailed to us or called in, we will respond back
to you with an answer.
