Tournament Report

The Boot'Legg Trail held its Tournament on Western Branch this past weekend attracting 19 teams (31 Anglers). Suprisingly nice crowd considering that this is the 4^th of July weekend. The lake drawing was done by the team of Mark Barnes & Doug Roberts; our last winners.

The primary pattern for the day was to hunker down and fish. Fishing was pretty tough for everyone, with only one exception; Drew Brown & Wayne Garrett. Drew & Wayne had an area that was producing topwater strikes, most of the morning and kept them busy until sometime around 1pm, when they caught their last fish. They threw a Lucky Craft Sammy all day to get the fish they needed. The rest of the anglers were finesse fishing for their better bites and few reported a decent Spinnerbait bite. There were plenty of dinks caught, unfortunately they don't count. With the Summer in full swing and Western Branch being drawn down about 6-feet or better, it made fishing tough all around.

Congratulations to the winning team of Drew Brown & Wayne Garrett for their Top Finish. Placing in 2nd were John "Rebel" Plyler & Jerry Patterson and they were fortunate to eek out BIG FISH HONORS as well. The 3rd Place finishers went to the sticks of Sam North & Russ Hall, who had the only other limit brought in other than Drew & Wayne. In 4th Place and fishing solo was Matt Whitwell and 5th Place went to James Williams & Gene North.
