| Always tough in the summer, Western Branch, was the drawn lake today which was pulled by Mark Barnes. The Boot'Legg Trail reached a record low turnout on this day, with only 13 teams fishing, which consisted of 24 Anglers. This allowed for only 3 places to be paid out, not including the Big Fish Pot. The area has been going thru some soaring temperatures and this day wasn't any exception. It was hot enough that Rich, the Big Yank, took a quick dip in the lake to cool off. Air Temps were in the uppper 90's and the Water Temps were in the mid-90's for the day. All the anglers fishing today struggled to catch any fish. The primary technique and pattern for the day was to pace yourself, hang in there and be patient. Only one angler, Lenny Shane, came in with a limit of fish. According to Lenny and other anglers, he was fishing a main lake point using a Carolina Rig and swapping to a Crankbait at times. Outside of what Lenny Shane did, it was ugly for the rest of the field. With Lenny Shane bringing in the only limit for the day, it allowed for him to sack the field of anglers and take 1st Place by at least 3lbs. The 2nd Place position went to Stan Stockton & Derrick Sandhoff. Keith Lynch came in 3rd Place and took Big Fish Honors for the day. Following in 4th Place were Tim Langdon & Cal Gilliam and rounding out the Top 5 was Dallas "Bubba" Eure & Charles Goff.
