Last weeks winners, Drew Brown & Wayne Garrett, pulled Lake Prince for the days Tournament this past weekend. A few moans were heard once Prince was drawn, due to the past few unsuccessful outings Anglers were having out on Prince. The Trail had about an average turnout, attracting 24 teams (47 Anglers).

The weather was probably the hottest held this year, but still nice to be on the water. Water temps that morning were in the low 70’s and moved up to 80-degrees by late afternoon. The water clarity was twofold, depending on what side of the lake was fished. Going towards the dam area, clarity went down to about 8’ or better. Going up lake, there wasn’t much clarity at all, down to about 3’ to 4’ at best. As most anglers have figured out, the bedding season is coming to an abrupt stop and the Post-Spawn is pretty much gone from Prince. Good news is, the hatch off was very successful from the amount of fry being seen throughout the entire lake. They are now large enough that the Buck Bass has cut them loose and the fry are running in giant schools now.

The primary pattern for the day was still sight fishing. Although the spawn and post-spawn is pretty much over, the bite was definitely not on; so anglers had to rely on what few fish were left on the beds or guarding fry. Most anglers were seeing huge bass roaming all over the lake, but found them tough to catch. There were multiple reports from anglers who saw fish ranging from 4lbs to 6lbs roaming throughout the lake, but not willing to bite. The Senko was the hottest lure of choice which was probably followed by the Tube/Creature baits.

The winning stringer went to Team Hawg Gitta – Orece & Neal Robinson who also broke a Boot’Legg Record for the largest 1-day Stringer going over 27lbs for a 5 fish limit. From what is also being told, this may have also broken the previous Suffolk Lake Record, which was over 25lbs caught by Dallas “Bubba” Eure at Lake Cohoon. Coming in 2nd Place were Drew Brown & Wayne Garrett, followed by the team of Jason Sawyer & Corey Hamilton. Rounding out the Top 5 was the 4th Place Lenny Shane and 5th Place went to Bubba Driscoll & Rick Williams. Big Fish Honors went to the Team of Drew Brown & Wayne Garrett who brought in a fish nearly 8lbs.
