| So far, this is the smallest field of Anglers participating this year, only bringing in 12 Teams to fish this late Spring, early Summer Event. Earlier in the week, the Water Temps were around 75-degress, but come tournament time it moved up to 80-degrees in the morning, to 85-degrees by tournaments end. Though there weren't many participants, those that did had a great day fishing, catching fish all day long. It was just a matter of catching the better quality fish. Several of the teams pre-fished early in the week creating a good pattern, but with the change in Water Temps may have changed the fishing pattern...IT DID!!! Couple of guys were ribbing one another about who was on fish and what it would take to beat them because they were on them so good all week long. There were mentions of a few anglers catching 5lbers everyday they pre-fished and people were going to have to fish hard to beat the Top Anglers for the year. The main technique used for those catching the better fish was to use finesse lures on light equipment and line. The winning pattern was to fish the stumpy areas loaded with grass. In the runnings for Angler of the Year, the team of Derek Breckenridge & Allen Simpson busted the field up by catching an 18lb load. Those coming in 2nd Place were Father & Son team of Quillie & Robert Countiss who always do well on Beaver Dam; especially this year. Also, Quillie was able to squeak out the Lunker of the Day for Team Countiss. Coming in 3rd Place is the team of Drew Brown & Wayne Garrett; fourth place was Richard Thurston & Hank Thompson and 5th Place went to Ricky West & Jerry Jenkins.
