Tournament Report

Orece Robinson, of Team Hawg Gitta, drew Lake Cohoon for this weekend’s event. The Trail brought out 22 teams that consisted of 42 Anglers.

This tournament was another scorcher, but the few clouds that came out protected the anglers from the sun a bit; whatever breeze that came by was a blessing a well. The Air Temps got up to 92-degrees by days end and Water Temps that morning was at 80-degrees. The Water Clarity isn’t open for discussion, since this lake water color seems to stay tannic most of the time, if not all the time.

There truly wasn’t any sight fishing going on that was heard of, so there were not advantages for the Spring time sight fisherman. The primary pattern for the day came from anglers tossing Senko’s & T-Rigged worms. One of the better Stringers came off of a Spinnerbait. There were no dominating areas to fish; some caught fish by going under the R&R Trussell, others ran all over the place to get what they had. Topwater action was a null factor from what anglers spoke about; few rolls on top, but no takers. There were several anglers stating that they had good fish on, ranging from 4lbs to 6lbs that for some reason or another, just came unbuttoned; that’s fishin’ for ya’.

There were no records broken this week, but there were some really close weights brought in to determine the place winners. The winning stringer went to James Williams & Nate Hollis and the 2nd Place spot went to Lenny Shane himself. The team of Russ Hall & Sam North took 3rd Place. Rounding out the Top 5 are the teams of Parish Malone & Phil Schyler and Brad Webb & Chris Campbell. The Top 5 teams were so close, they were only separated by 1.63lbs. The teams from 2nd Place to 5th Place were even closer, only separated by .45lbs. Big Fish Honors went to the Team of Stan Stockton & Derek Sandhoff, which went a little better than 5lbs. Congratulations to the Top 5 Anglers.

Thanks to Nate Hollis for doing our Livewell Check that morning and for assisting at the Weigh In as our Weigh Master. We would like to also recognize Sam North & Russ Hall for assisting us that morning to ensure people launched safely at the ramp, saving headaches and time. Ron Turley also assisted us as well, working the tub and placing fish in the bags for us, while we had Tim Langdon assisted by taking care of the Weigh In sheets for us. Mike Gizara always seems to come in handy for us and helps out during the weigh in as well.
