| Lake Prince was drawn today by the previous Boot’Legg winners, James Williams & Gene North. Our lowest showing for the year on the Southside (and on record), there were only 19 teams that showed consisting of 35 Anglers. With only 19 boats participating, only 4 places were paid out. Pretty much as usual, the Weatherman was inaccurate again. It was supposed to reach in the lower 80’s and comfortable, with rains late in the evening. It never reached the 80’s, which made fishing nice and it was pretty cloudy all day… with drizzle. It allowed for cool conditions though. The Water Temps pretty much stayed around 80-degrees, +/- degree or two. The time of the year and the conditions called for a Topwater bite; so anglers thought. So far this year, the Topwater bite has been non-existent. One report was brought in of a bedding fish, but was never caught; hooked, but not caught. Most anglers figured with the conditions given, this would be a numbers game; catching fish after fish and sorting out the smaller fish for a better bag. All the anglers fishing today struggled to catch fish and to catch good fish. The primary technique and pattern for the day came from anglers tossing Senko’s & 4” plastics near wood and tree tops. Surprisingly, there was a good sack brought in by Mark Barnes & Doug Roberts, who brought in just over 17lbs and nearly a 5lb kicker fish. About 7lbs back, Orece & Neal Robinson placed in 2nd and they had Big Fish for the day going better than 5lbs. Gary & Kenny Kinsey took 3rd Place and had 2 fish going just over 4lbs each. The 4th Place spot went to Lenny Shane, making 3 Top 5 finishes in a row. Taking 5th Place was Matt Whitwell & Matt McKinney. Of the 19 boats, there were only 5 limits caught…TOUGH FISHING!!! Special Thanks: Thanks to Orece Robinson for assisting at the Weigh In and taking photos. Several other anglers assisted with miscellaneous duties during the Weigh In process; Jesse Munden, Jesse Pearce, Corey Hamilton, Jason Sawyer, John “Rebel” Plyler and Danny “Griff Dog” Griffin.
