| The Little Creek Anglers Club held there 2nd Tournament Event on Beaver Dam Swamp. The weather had been better for the anglers on this day, even with yet another North wind. The Tournament brought out 15 teams that consisted of 26 anglers. According to several anglers bragging prior to Blast Off, "It's gonna take about 15lbs for ya'll to beat me." The angler had been pre-fishing and catching good fish in his area. There were also a couple of other anglers who were in agreement that it would take some good weight to win on this day from their prior fishing results. Only a couple anglers reported from their pre-fishing that they weren't on fish prior to the event. The pattern on this day isn't much different than any other pattern; fishing areas that were adjacent to spawning flats. The better part of the winning stringer of fish were caught predominantly Jerkbaits, ripping them through the grass and getting slammed as it ripped free. Other techniques worked as well, such as slow rolling spinnerbaits and fishing finesse type lures. There were a few limits brought in, those who brought in limits were also culling thru the day. Once again, winning the tournament was the team of Derek Breckenridge & Allen Simpson, making that 2 events in a row. Coming in 2nd Place was the father and son team of Quillie & Robert Countiss, followed by the well known team Ricky West & Jerry Jenkins in 3rd. The "Big Fish" Honors was shared between the teams of Jimmy Reed & Jerry Hogge and Quillie & Robert Countiss. |
