The first Rule 9 Tournament of 2005 started like many other Rule 9 Tournaments, this time of year….RAINING!!! Fortunately for the anglers who participated, most of the rain had subsided by the time we launch kicked off at 0600hrs. Other than some early fog, the weather wasn’t too bad; once the sun broke through around noon, it warmed rather nice. The water temps ranged from 48- to 54-degrees throughout the day. It was a pretty tough day as far as the bite goes, but as always, someone manages to figure out how to catch a few fish. There seemed to be several patterns and techniques to get the fish to bite once anglers found fish using a variety of lures. James Osby & Morse Johnson found a few using Crankbaits and managed to crank their way to 1st Place with only 4 bass. They also rounded out their payday with Lunker Honors with a nice Nottoway 4lber. The 2nd Place spot went to Tim Marks & Loney Purvis with another sack of 4 bass; they pretty much stuck with plastic worms all day. Keith Lynch used both Spinnerbaits and Jerkbaits in the muddy water to bring the only 5 fish limit of the day to the scales, netting him a 3rd Place finish. For the most part, the fish were small, but just about everyone had a couple of fish to bring to the scales and ALL bass were released alive. Click on the link below for the full field of results…
