| The Boot’Legg Trail only mustered up 9 boats today, which consisted of 18 total anglers fishing. The forecast for the day was awesome; partly cloudy and a high of 84-degrees. Morning water temps were at 67-degrees and got up to 71-degrees as the day went. The Boot’Legg Officials figured there would be plenty of limits brought in to the scales and would possibly about 14 to 15lbs to win it all. There were a few beds made, but not a whole lot of pickings to choose from. Those anglers that were sight fishing were successful in catching fish on the beds, but there were only 2 boats sight fishing which pretty much allowed them access to most of the bedding fish on the lake. Still, the better bags came from those mixing it up with predominately fishing and sight fishing as a secondary effort; basically if they found an obvious spawner, they would fish for it. The better lure of the day would have to be finesse worms, but Jigs and a variety of different plastics were just as good a choice. Of the 9 boats, everyone brought in limits and was culling frequently throughout the day. There were several 1 and 2lbers caught, which made culling difficult because anglers really couldn’t cull up for much weight; it was entertaining though and kept anglers on their toes. Most of the teams caught about 15 to 20 fish on average. A total of 45 fish were caught that brought in a Tournament Total Weight of 105.75lbs; an average of 2.35lbs per fish weighed in and 11.75lbs per team. Congratulations to Gerald Gentry & Jimmy West of Gloucester for taking 1st Place in the event as well as Big Fish Honors. Orece & Neal Robinson placed 2nd and just skimmed past the team of Ricky West & Jerry Jenkins. Below are the rest of the Fields Standings for the day… Special Thanks: Once again, Thanks to Beaver Dam Park Staff Member Chris & Mel. That morning they assisted with parking, launch fees & equipment rental for those needing it. Chuck Hyde also assisted with us that afternoon; seemed that the Boot’Legg scales didn’t take a full charge causing the scales to be unusable. Chuck allowed us to borrow the Parks digital scales to complete our weigh in process…THANK YOU!!! The Staff has been more than helpful to the Boot’Legg Trail and can’t be thanked enough. As usual, we always get volunteers at the Tournaments to help us out. Those in particular were the following...Brian Hollis who acted as the Asst Tournament Director and Weigh Master, as well as Joey Hollis who assisted Brian with the weighing of the fish and keeping things in order as anglers brought in their catches. We also had Orece Robinson who assisted with handling some of the paperwork and took photos. Big Thanks to you guys and it's always a pleasure to get the anglers involved. The next Boot'Legg Tournament on Beaver Dam will be on Oct 2nd 2005; however there will be several tournaments in between that, but held on the Southside. |
