| The Boot'Legg Trail held its Tournament on Lake Meade this past weekend. This was a pretty good turnout of 21 boats (39 Anglers), considering the Memorial Day weekend. The lake drawing was done by Brad Webb, who was our last Southside tournament winners. The weather was unbelievable, nice sunny day, little breeze and the air temps were nice. You couldn’t beat it; not to mention, the perfect day for sight fishing. Unfortunately, the bedding season has come to a near dead stop; especially on Meade. Water temps that morning were in the low 70’s and picked up in the upper 70’s. The water clarity was UGLY and it didn’t make for good sight fishing, if that were possible. The primary pattern for the day was to get your mind set into that Post-Spawn Fishing Mode; hunker down and fish. If you were able to find some fry, you were able to catch fish. Most anglers were either casting into what looked like Bass Beds or into pods of Fry. Outside of that, the bite was tough; Texas Rigs, Senko’s & Jigs are what most bites come off of outside of targeting Fry. Only two reports indicated Topwater action, but most Anglers were unsuccessful. Congratulations to the winning team of Drew Brown & Wayne Garrett for their Top Finish. Following them were Jason Sawyer & Corey Hamilton who just scathed by Orece & Neal Robinson who took 3rd Place. Coming in 4th Place were John “Rebel” Plyler & Jerry Patterson and 5th Place went to Mike Kinsey & Brian A.K.A – The Other Kinsey. Special Thanks: Thanks to Mike & Brian Kinsey, along with John “Rebel” for the “Good Morning” entertainment!!! You had to be there. Also, thanks Brian “The Other Kinsey” for assisting at the Weigh In. Many thanks to Russ Hall, who was our Scale Master Savior. Our scales went down and Russ put his Time & Talents together to get us back on track. Nate Hollis filled in for us as the Weigh Master. |
