| This Air Temps had people wearing light coats and pants in the early part of the morning until the sun came up, turning the days fishing into a nice day. Water Temps dropped from what it was earlier in the week, which was 77-degrees a few days prior and dropped down to 74-degrees and never reached much more than 75 all day. As the day went on, the wind picked up, which is common for Beaver Dam. Some anglers had personal issues that prevented them from attending, which was understandable and we figured that without those problems, there would have been more than 20 boats showing, instead, we only had 16 boats with (32 Anglers). There was plenty of fish caught, but they were spread out through the day for anglers; catching one here and there with several shorts. There were several limits brought in, in fact, over half the field brought in limit sacks; along with several 4 fish sacks. The primary pattern and technique used for the majority of the field was sporadic; from C-Riggin’ & Jiggin’ deeper waters near ledges adjacent to flats. Some anglers used Senkos & Finesse worms in the shallower waters for their fish and few used Cranks to get a few fish in. Not many reports of anglers catching fish on Topwater Lures. Winning in Back-2-Back tournaments, Orece & Neal Robinson won with the second lowest weight in Boot’Legg History; the last tournament was the lowest. Fishing solo, 2nd Place went to Richard Thurston, who recently won the 2005 Little Creek Anglers Club Classic. Third place went to Dennis Mitchell & Paul “Ole Man” Payne. In 4th Place was Boot’Legg Tournament Officials, James Williams & Gene North and rounding out the 5th spot was the Father & Son team of Jerry & Jarrett Hogge. Big Fish Honors went to Ted Lilley & Don Karetka. Thanks: The Boot’Legg Legg Trail would like to thank those who participated and for allowing us to have a great turnout. Many of the guys from Little Creek Anglers Club showed up and participated, which was nice. I would like to thank Quillie Countiss, Jimmy Reed & Jason Carlton for spreading the word about the Event to ensure others get the correct information. Thanks goes out to Nate Hollis, who has always volunteered his services to assist the Boot’Legg Trail in the mornings and the weigh in. Today, he also assisted with announcing and presenting the winners with their earnings. Thanks Nate “Nate’Tron” Hollis for all that you have done and continue to do for the Trail!!! Special Thanks: Beaver Dam Park Staff: Chuck Hyde for ensuring anglers receive the appropriate information about the Boot’Legg Tournament Event. Also, Mel for allowing us to have a smooth transition in the morning to getting us into the Park early and taking care of those needing to passes to launch and additional equipment. |
