| Day One... This morning was VERY cold laid with a thick coat of fog on the lake. Rule 9's Classic started off with quite a bit of chill in the air. Water temps ranged from 58-63 degrees most of the day and the air temps never even got that high. Early in the day, the bite was okay, however, as the day wore on, the bite got tougher and tougher as the clouds rolled in and the wind began to pick up. Only twelve boats showed for the Classic and of those 12, no one showed up with a 5 fish limit. Most of the fish that were caught were taken using worms or crankbaits. After Day 1, every boat was within 6 lbs of the leader, Sam North & Russ Hall. The Big Fish for Day 1 went to Tim Marks & Loney Purvis with a nice 3lbs 8oz chunk. Day Two... Day 2 didn’t start off any better than Day 1, it was still cold; a carbon copy of the Day 1 morning start…maybe a little colder, but NO wind and NO clouds. For that matter, pretty much NO fish either! The water temps stayed about the same, the air temps got up to a nice and comfortable 72-degrees. Anglers thought that Day 1 was a tough bite; Day 2 was just as bad if not worse. Anglers threw most everything in their tackle box. The early part of the day was a tough, but the fish turned it on a little bit after about 1 PM. Most of the anglers reported catching their fish later on that afternoon. Once the smoke cleared at the end of the day, there were a pair of familiar faces setting atop the Leader Board; Sam North & Russ Hall. Congratulations on winning the 2005 Rule-9 Classic and becoming the first team in the history of Rule 9 Bass Club to capture both the Team of the Year and the Classic in the same year! Mike Cherry & Rob Uzzle took Big Fish for Day 2, with nearly a 4lb fish. |
