| Today was an awesome day for fishing; perfect temps, both Air & Water. Low pressure system lingering around, cloudy and every thing just felt right for a good day. There was a slight breeze coming in from the East, but no one would figure that the East wind would be a problem. Doug Roberts & Mark Barnes drew Burnt Mills for the days tournament attracted 23 teams (41 Anglers); another 5 place payout. There were hoards of fish being caught today, but the problem was they were all shorts. Very few keeper fish were caught and like the last Boot’Legg Event, there were no limits brought in and the weights were at an all-time low. There was one team that brought in a 4 fish sack and 5 others bringing in 3 fish sacks; all with small fish within that sack. The primary pattern and technique used for the winners was a simple phrase, “Let’s go fishing.” Anglers tried several techniques & patterns, running from spot-to-spot, with little to no success. When all else fails, just go fishing. Plastics accounted for most of the fish caught; Senkos and finesse worms. Sift through all the shorts, trash fish (i.e. Bowfin, Pike, Warmouths, etc.) and hope to get a keeper. This is probably the lowest winning weight in any Boot’Legg Event, which was won by the team of Orece & Neal Robinson with only 7lbs and nothing to spare. Taking 2nd Place and fishing solo was Charles Goff. Mike Gizara had 1 fish, which was good enough for 3rd Place and Big Fish. Coming in 4th Place was Brad Webb & Matt Ovaitt; rounding out the Top 5 was the team of John “Rebel” Plyler & Jerry Patterson. Thanks: The Boot’Legg Legg Trail would like to thank & recognize Bob “The Bull” Bullen and the many Bass Jon members who showed up today; as well as the many Rule-9 members. Also, we would like to thank Nate Hollis, who was our Livewell Checker & Weigh Master for the day. Russ Hall, a Rule-9 & Jamestown Bassmasters angler, assisted with the weigh in process as well as presenting the winners with their earnings. Although the Boot’Legg Trail does not have any OFFICIAL Members, Russ Hall has been more than an Angler with the Trail; he has provided equipment, assistance and guidance throughout the Trails existence. The trail can’t thank him enough for all that he has done and continues to do. Thanks Russ!!! |
