Tournament Report

The Boot’Legg Trail had their third event held on March 30th with another good turnout of 23 teams participating (43 Anglers).  Once again, the weather played havoc for the anglers; another cold day, with rain and sleet to boot.  It rained the entire tournament and the sleet lasted about an hour or so.  Last tournament winners, James Williams & Gene North drew the lake for the day – Lake Prince. 

Patterns / Techniques – Pre-Spawn & Spawn / Jigs, Plastics & Cranks.  Surprisingly, fish made their way to the beds.  There weren't many beds to go around, but anglers who managed to locate a few of them did well at the weigh in. There were 9 limits and a tournament total of 72 fish (1-dead) going 206.44lbs.  

The winners were Parish Malone & Tony Thompson, who had a hefty load of fish going over 20lbs and a nice 6lber to boost their sack.  Team of the Year leaders, Kevin Mills & Mike Crescini came up with a good limit of their own, slipping into 2nd place with 17+lbs to their weight.  The 3rd place team, brothers Brian & James Dear, had a good sack that tipped the 17lb mark, but were penalized for a dead fish and were able to maintain their position with 16.81lbs; just enough to stay ahead of the 4th place team of Gary & Bryan Kinsey who had 16.80lbs.  The Kinsey's however were able to top the scales with the Big Fish Honors; that fish went 6.32lbs.  Rounding out the Top 5 were Sam North & Russ Hall.  There was a $35 Bass Pro Shop Gift Card give away given to Brad Webb & Chris Campbell.  The gift card was offered to the team 'Just Out of the Money' as a constilation prize.  Congrats to all.
