2nd Annual Bass'N-9 Event

The 2005 2nd Annual Bass’N-9 Event was held on Western Branch today, with 9 Bass-Jons Teams competing against 8 Rule-9 Teams. It was a bitter cold morning with air temps in the low-30’s and water temp were still 58-degrees. It was tough fishing to say they least; anybody throwing Crankbaits and/or Spinnerbaits caught more than their fair share of Pickerel. The Rule-9 Teams caught more fish, with a total of 22 fish to be weighed. Although Bass Jons only caught 14 fish to be weighed, it was unfortunately for Rule-9 that the Bass Jons fish weighed a bit more. Bass Jons anchored their weights with a nice 4lbs 8oz fish caught by Bob Bullen. Bass Jons topped that off also with the Lunker of the Day from Jim Carlson, who brought in a nice 4lbs 12oz chunk. Both clubs had 7 boats weighing fish, but Bass-Jon's had 11lbs more than the Rule-9. So in consecutive fashion Bass-Jon's has won; two years in a row, retaining the title of Bass'N-9 Champs. Jerry Patterson brought it home with a nice 5 fish limit of 10lbs 6oz; catching fish primarily with Senkos and Jig & Pigs. There were only 3 limits brought in; those came from Sam North & Ronnie Lentz of Rule-9 and Jerry Patterson of Bass-Jon's. Everyone had an absolute blast out there on the water and the interaction between the clubs this year was fantastic. The story of the day was that of James Osby of Rule-9 who was running wide open and hit a aerator pipe, which pulled his motor right off the back end and into the drink in about 10’ to 11’ of water. Anglers came to his aide by marking it with a buoy and Osby was towed back to the ramp. There he found some re-bar and fashioned a drag hook and was able to retrieve his motor. Now that is a fish story. Special Thanks: Mike Schneider, Ronnie Lentz from Rule-9 and Jim North of Bass-Jon’s allowed this Club vs. Club event to run smoothly.
