2004 Bass-Jon's Tourney Results

Lake Prince "Classic" - 16 Oct 04

Beautiful day, mild temps with winds from WSW from 8 to 16 mph gusts. Water temp has remain a steady 60 temp degrees. We had nine boats at the event with 4 limits brought to the scales and a healthy first place win for Jerry Patterson & John Federico with 13 plus pounds, they also managed to take home the Lunker of day, with a nice 5.02 lb Hawg. Everyone caught fish and had a great time at the last tourney of the 2004 season. Reports at the weight in had fish caught on crank baits, soft plastics, spinnerbaits and a few on a Pig & Jig. The Lunker of the day was taken with a 5" Senko. See all the pictures from the tourney on Tourney Results page.

Lake Prince - 16 Oct 04

Well it was Bass-Jon's last regular tourney of the year. Just the Classic to fish and it will end the 2004 Tourney season. It was tough fishing for most, 11 boats participated, 49 fish caught and all release alive. But the weights were low. Some teams found some nice fish but for the majority small fish were the rule of the day. The water temp was 65 degrees, partly cloudy and very windy throughout the day made fishing difficult at times. Still a pleasure to be fishing instead of working. Senko's still counted when brining in the big fish, and plastics still were the main fair for the fish. Except for the Lunker of the day which was caught on a spinnerbait, slow rolling in the heaviest of winds at the end of laydowns. Today also determined our Angler of the Year Jerry Patterson and our Lunker of the year award to Mike Cooper with his 7.14 lbs

  • 1st:  Rob Fabian & Mike Cooper                        4 Fish, 8.00 lbs, Lunker 4.06 lbs
  • 2nd:  Jerry Patterson                                            5 Fish, 6.10
  • 3rd:  Jim Carlson & John Federico                       5 Fish, 6.02 lbs

Burnt Mills - 2 Oct 04

Well it didn't call for rain until the evening. Oh well, it pour three or four times during the day. But it didn't stop Jerry Patterson and Kevin Mills going head to head for the honors of Angler of Year race. There's one points tourney left and Jerry's one point ahead, Lake Prince will determine the 2004 AOY. As far as Burnt Mills goes it was a tough tourney for most lots of small limits bought to the scales. But Kevin Mills managed to find five to win the tourney. Jerry Patterson followed closely and took second and big fish honors for the day. Rainy, humid and water temps in the mid 70's. Most reports at the weigh in had the majority of fish caught on a Senko. But the winner caught his fish with a different type bait for each of his fish. No top water bite to report..

  • 1st:    Kevin Mills                                                5 Fish, 10.02
  • 2nd:   Jerry Patterson                                          5 Fish, 9.06, Lunker 4.08 lbs

Lake Meade - 18 Sept 04

Geophery Mills & Bob Bullen

Rain and more rain, windy with gusts up to 20 mph. Didn't deter the Bass-Jon's from holding their tourney on Lake Meade. The winning weight of 13.14 lbs went to Geophery Mills & Bob Bullen. Geophery & Bob figured the pattern out early that Carolina Rigs and plastic worms off of wind blown main lake points produced fish. The reports at the weigh in had fish being caught on everything today, Pig & Jig's, Trick worms, flukes, sliders and of course Senko's. Lots of small fish taken and seven limits made it to the scales.

  • 1st: Bob Bullen & Geophery Mills                                5 Fish, 13.14 lbs. Lunker 3.14 lbs
  • 2nd: Jim Gerdes & Steve Loveless                               5 Fish, 7.10 lbs, Lunker 3.4 lbs
  • 3rd: Kevin Mills & Rex Shell                                        5 Fish, 6.4 lbs
  • 4th: Mike Wesner & Robert Stamey                            5 Fish, 4.10 lbs
  • 5th: Roy Croswell & Mike Cooper                              5 Fish, 3.2 lbs
  • 6th: Stan Stockton & Shawn Peregoy                           5 Fish, 2.10 lbs
  • 7th: Jerry Patterson & Jim Carlson                               5 Fish, 2.06 lbs
  • 8th: Jeff & Katie Kessler                                             1 Fish, .14 oz
  • 8th: Jesse Munden                                                       1 Fish, .14 oz

Lake Smith - 4 Sept 04

Overcast and windy. Fifteen boats fished the tourney with varying results. The reports at the weigh in had fish being caught on everything today, Pig & Jig's, Trick worms, flukes, sliders and of course Senko's. Lake Smith seem to out produce Little Creek Reservoir (Whitehurst West). Kevin Mills and partner spent all day over there with nothing to show for it, shifted lakes and picked up a limit in the last two hours of the of tournament, which yielded 3rd place for them. No secret to where the fish were, laydowns, cypress trees or any type of structure. The lake is down a good 1.5 - 2' which reduced the amount of great shore line cover and structure.

  • 1st: Jerry Patterson & Mike Cooper                  5 Fish, 10.08 Lbs, Lunker 5.10 lbs
  • 2nd: Stan Stockton & Shaun Peregoy                2 Fish, 10.02 Lbs, Lunker 5.10 lbs
  • 3rd: Kevin Mills & Archie Pitman                      5 Fish, 7.06 Lbs
  • 4th: Rob Brewer & Chuck Zastrow                  5 Fish, 7.00 Lbs, Lunker 3.00 lbs
  • 5th: Jim North & Scott Waterman                     5 Fish, 6.02 Lbs
  • 6th: Bob Bullen & Walt DeGraaf                       3 Fish, 5.12 Lbs, Lunker 3.06 lbs
  • 7th: Roy Croswell & Rex Shell                          4 Fish, 5.06 Lbs
  • 8th: Jesse Munden                                            5 Fish, 4.14 Lbs
  • 9Th: John Federico & Geophery Mills               1 Fish, 3.08 lbs
  • 10th: Jeff & Katie Kessler                                 4 Fish, 3.04 Lbs

  • Lunker of the Day shared with both Stan Stockton & Jerry Patterson both brining in 5.10 lbs fish each.

Lake Cohoon - 21 Aug 04

Hot and humid and threats of thunderstorms all day didn?t keep the fish from biting. The field of 13 boats yielded 10 limits. Fish came from all over the lake. Key baits were crank baits, trick worms and let?s not forget the all favorite Senko bite. Jerry Patterson took 1st place and big fish honors today. This is Jerry's second victory in a row and is our current Leader in the Bass-Jon's "Angler of Year" Race.

  • 1st: Jerry Patterson                                              5 Fish, 15.12 lbs, Lunker 6.00 lbs
  • 2nd: Stan Stockton & Shaun Peregoy                  5 Fish, 11.06 lbs
  • 3rd: Jim Gerdes & Huck Palmatier                       5 Fish, 10.00 lbs, Lunker 3.14 lbs
  • 4th: Jeff & Katie Kessler                                     3 Fish, 7.08 lbs, Lunker 4.06 lbs
  • 5th: James & Corey Triplett                                 5 Fish, 7.06 lbs

The day was long and humid. This was Bass-Jon's annual night tourney which starts at sun-rise and last until Sunset, fifteen hours of fishing with two weigh-ins, one at 1400 and another at 2115. The results proved out typical summer fishing, low weights and few fish. The only thing in abundance was the fun and heat. The fish that were caught; were either on top-water or senko's and a few reported worm bites. We had fourteen boats participate. Sorry no pictures, having trouble with the digital camera. The below is the results of the day.

Burnt Mills - 26 June 04

As always someone finds the pattern and the fish. The day started off with high winds, forcing many off the main lake points. But the winds died down and were replaced with rain throughout the day.  The air temp was favorable in the high 70's and water temp right at 80 degrees. Reports at the weigh in yielded the results of most fish caught were on Senkos and Brush Hogs with few reports of a worm bite. Most the fish were caught on the main lake in 3 - 4 feet of water with adjacent deep water access. Eighteen boats participated from our club plus there was another club event going on with their eighteen boats from Howmet Bassmasters.

  •  1st:       Kevin Mills                                          5 Fish, 13.08 lbs, Lunker 3.12 lbs
  • 2nd:      Jim Gerdes & Roger Ewing                   5 Fish, 13.06 lbs, Lunker 5.02 lbs

Lake Prince - 12 June 04

Brandan & Mark

The day started a little rough with rain and a cool breeze. But the day turned partly sunny with temps in the mid seventies. The winds were 15 - 20 mph and seemed to be shifting throughout the day. Water temps were at 80 degrees. It seems as if the summer fishing came early this year. But anglers managed to find fish. The most productive method seems to be the Senko or wacky worm over laydowns. Fish reported tight to cover once the sun broke out or were close to shore in the shade.  Total of 14 boats/teams participated.  Now here's the results:

  • 1st: Mark Barnes & Brandan Willeford         5 Fish, 13.06 lbs
  • 2nd: Jesse Munden & Jesse Pearce               5 Fish, 12.00 lbs,  Lunker 5.04 Lbs
  • 3rd: Shaun Peregoy & Mike Cooper             4 Fish, 7.10 lbs
  • 4th: Jerry Patterson & Jon Guzman               5 Fish, 7.08 lbs
  • 5th: Red Edwards & Roger Ewing                4 Fish, 6.08 lbs
  • 6th: Huck Palmatier & Jay North                  3 Fish, 5.02 lbs
  • 7th: Stan Stockton                                        4 Fish, 3.14 lbs
  • 8th: Jeff & Katie Kessler                               2 Fish, 3.10 lbs

Lake Whitehurst - 29 May 04

Incredible beautiful day! Partly Sunny Skies, mild temperatures with the wind bringing cool breezes made a day to remember. Water temp was near 80 and the wind as always on Whitehurst, blowing hard. The fishing was tough and Anglers fought all day to bring fish in. Only one limit made it to the scales. No real pattern could be developed or be heard at the weigh-in, they were caught by everything in the tackle box. Jesse Munden brought the only limit in and he did it by throwing a June-Bug Senko throughout the day. Due to the holiday weekend we had 15 boats, 12 of them had bass. But everyone caught something during the day, some nice 3-4 lb Walleye were chewing on the crankbaits. I managed two bass for the day but not good enough to make the top ten, today was definitely a day of fishing. Here are the results, .

Jesse Munden

  • 1st:       Jesse Munden                                   5 Fish, 9.08 Lbs, Lunker 3.08 Lbs
  • 2nd:      Jerry Patterson & Roger Ewing         3 Fish, 8.12 Lbs, Lunker 5.04 Lbs
  • 3rd:       Jay North & Huck Palmatier             4 Fish, 7.10 Lbs, Lunker 3.04 Lbs
  • 4th:       Mark Barnes & Mike Cooper          2 Fish, 5.12 Lbs, Lunker 3.08 Lbs
  • 5th:       Rex Shell & John Federico               2 Fish, 5.02 Lbs, Lunker 3.02 Lbs
  • 6th:       Kevin Mills                                      3 Fish, 5.02 Lbs

Lake Meade - 15 May 04

Tough day of fishing for everyone. Bright sun, warm temperatures and few limits bought to the weigh in. But someone always manages to catch fish in toughest conditions. Reports were many and varied from Angler to Angler. The ones that did manage limits said they caught their bag on couple different methods. Everything from topwater, worms, and sliders no one way proved better than the  other, nor one area of the lake.  18 Boats participated.

As always Lake Smith is a club favorite to fish for a tourney. Well Lake Smith did not let us down. We had 19 boats for the tourney and 14 brought fish to the scales. The fish were caught on a variety of baits, from Senko's, Lizards, Crankbaits and spinnerbaits, most reports had them coming shallow. The show stopper of the day was the 7.14 lb fish Mike Cooper caught on a 1/4 oz spinnerbait with no trailer hook; he's set the bar high for the Lunker of the Year Award. Full set of pictures of the tourney weigh in on Bass-Jon's Tourney Results Page.

April 3rd Tourney on Lake Cohoon has started the same way as our first two tourneys, cold and windy. Sixteen boats fished with 12 teams bringing fish to the scales. Water temp only reached about 53 degrees. Fishing was tough for most anglers, but someone always brings fish in and figures a pattern for the day. Bass-Jon's held it's second tourney of the season. Seventeen boats and 31 competitors. Fishing was tough for most anglers except for a few who figure out the secret of the day. 1st and 2nd place finishers claimed victory and hauling in the lunker of day at six pounds all on Senko's, yes I said senko's or there knock-off. The rest of the field pull fish in on Spinnerbaits, crankbaits, Pig & Jigs and worm. .

Fishing was tough for most of us, but someone always finds the fish and this tourney it was Stan and Dave that got four nice fish on spinnerbaits. While most of us were fighting the wind trying to find fish, Matt and Huck stayed in the calm areas and threw senkos and netted the only limit of the day. Those in the wind tested their batteries to the fullest and some just ran out of juice. The lure of choice today was spinnerbait and shad-raps. As they say it's on and winter is over.
