Other Local Bass Clubs and Tournament Trails

Rule 9 Bass Club

Rule 9 is one of the area's oldest local bass clubs, with over 10 years of history.  Tournaments are limited to members only and are held on Sundays.  Anglers fish in fixed, 2-man teams, and you maintain the same partner for the season, which creates a true team concept.  Rule 9 is a Bass-Jons affiliate, and they particpate in the area's only club vs club event against Bass-Jons (aka the Bass'n-9 Tournament).

Bass Chasers of Virginia Beach

Open tournament trail based in Virginia Beach, running team tournaments complete with Angler of the Year standings and a year-end Classic.  The trail consists of two tournaments a month held on Virginia Beach lakes, Suffolk lakes, and other local rivers.  Bass Chasers also hosts the Wednesday Hawg Fights on Wednesday afternoons at Lake Smith and Little Creek Reservoir in Virginia Beach.  All of their tournaments are open to anyone.  Bass Chasers was founded by Tim Ackal.  This is one of the best-run open trails in the area and draws a strong group of local anglers to every event.

Sunday Singles/Doubles + Super Doubles

This open trail is one of the oldest trails in Suffolk and is still going strong.  Most of the current trails and clubs in our area can trace their roots back to the Sunday Singles.  Events were expanded in 2010 to allow two-man teams (as opposed to fishing solo).  Events are held every Sunday, and anglers meet at the Truck Stop on 460 at sunrise to draw one of the Suffolk Lakes as the tournament venue of the day.  The last Sunday of each month is a "Super Doubles" event that carries a higher entry fee (and higher payout).  The trail is run by Lenny Shane.

Bethal Park Open Tournaments

This open trail, which is new for 2012, includes one tournament per month March-June, one tournament in September, and a 2-day classic in October (total of 6 tournaments).  Entry fees are $25 per boat plus an optional $5 per person ($10 per team) big fish entry.   Ramp fees are $4 per boat, and rentals for boats and motors are available for a fee as well.  All tournaments are at Bethal Park, which is an electric motor-only lake.  90% of the entry fees are paid out for placement in the tournament, with 10% going to Bethal Park.  The Tournament Director is Mike Schneider, who can be contacted at 757-597-4255 with any questions.

Three Rivers Bass Club

This club holds a 2-man team series open only to their members on the Nottoway, Chowan, and Blackwater River, including AOY standings and a Classic.  The club also hosts two open "Big Bass Challenge" tournaments that are open to everyone.  This is a great trail for those that have a bigger boat with a larger motor, as their venues have no horsepower limits.    The trail is run out of Franklin, VA by Doug Williams.

Stateline Bass Anglers

This club fishes primarily Southeastern Virginia and Northeastern North Carolina waterways.  Events are held for two-man teams or singles to compete in a friendly tournament format.  The tournament season runs from March-November.  They hold one tournament monthly, always on the second Saturday of each month.  The club is run by Robert Stamey.
